What seems so bad now, can easily change for the better

Perhaps I'm not totally versed in the Rules of Dating but it just seems to me that the object of the first date is to meet the other person, not to play judge and jury based on looks . Plenty of nothing has come wrapped in a pretty package. All too often people are worried more with looks than anything else, but a person doesn't just grow on you because of their looks, but rather their personality / character.
